KNHS has helped hundreds of homeowners finance and manage major and minor improvements to their homes. Special interest rates are available in targeted neighborhoods to finance improvements that add value to your home, such as new roofs, eaves troughs, windows, siding, driveways, fences, driveways and landscaping.
The majority of customers who purchase a home through KNHS take out two mortgages. One is a first mortgage on the property and a second is to rehabilitate the property to a standard that is safe, structurally sound and physically attractive. The loan (second mortgage) is payable over 15 years or when you move or sell or refinance the home.
KNHS has the ability to underwrite mortgage loans both within the organization and in conjunction with local lenders. See KNHS Home Ownership Program (HOP). LISC (Local Intiative Support Corporation), CDBG (Community Development Block Grant) and NeighborWorks® America are the primary financial partners related to second mortgage capital.
Customers work with rehab specialists on the KNHS staff to create a plan for desired improvements. The repairs are completed by independent licensed and insured contractors selected by the homeowner. Once repairs begin, KNHS staff make regular site visits to review the on-going repairs with the homeowners.
Each member of the KNHS rehab staff is an experienced builder/contractor with several years of experience overseeing home improvements and modifications.
